Cub Scouts has begun!

Well, the boys attended their first Pack 26 Cub Scout meeting on Friday. From what I am told, they LOVED it. They ran around and did relay races, had snacks, and did other boy things while the moms and dads met to discuss the business of cub scouting, i.e. when and where the Dens would meet. I stayed behind with the two little ones, so I didn't have any input there. It looks as if it turned out just fine, with Benjamin's Den meeting on Thursday nights and Joshua's Den meeting on Wednesday nights, just once per month. Joshua was very enthusiastic about wearing his Tiger Cub uniform to the meeting, while Benjamin was not as excited to do so. Therefore, Joshua is pictured in his whole getup and Benjamin is only wearing his hat. I am still working on sewing their Pack number badges on the arms...hopefully, that will be done before the Homecoming Parade in which they are marching next weekend! See photos here of the little ones playing around...Until next time...Adios!

Kid Yiddish... What's that?!

Tuesday nights when Jon is at his Men's meetings, I am at home with the kids during dinnertime. This Tuesday, I was too tired to cook dinner, so I mentioned that to the boys who took it upon themselves to make an elaborate dinner of pb&j with challah and orange juice. The hysterical part of this whole thing is that they set a small cup from Samantha's tea set on a kid plate and overfilled it (just like their Zaide does on Shabbat and holidays). Benjamin was the leader of Kid Yiddish this time, but said that Joshua would be the leader next week. Joshua then noted that Mommy could never be the leader because it was Kid Yiddish! Then, Benjamin took the salt and put it on a plate, then dipped it in (just like Zaide does!) and passed small pieces around to everyone. What Benjamin was trying to do was to say Kiddush over the orange juice, hence "Kid Yiddish" was born! They also washed their hands and said the prayers (just like Zaide and Orit do!) Mazel tov, kids! Check out the photos!

surgery, anniversary, new school year

elyse had carpal tunnel surgery on her right wrist on wed, sept 10th. it was not too bad, as she is familiar w/ it from her aug 6th surgery on her left wrist. too bad that her right side is dominant...vicodin was good for one day, that's all. thank god we have a strong support system to help us through this.
today we celebrated our 11th year wedding anniversary. we had great fun watching the wedding video with the kids. the boys commented on the fact that mommy looked different on tv (actually, they said i looked younger on tv!), but daddy looked the same then and now. thanks, guys! jon bought me beautiful earrings that just happened to match the necklace that zaide and orit brought me back from israel for my bday. he claims that he never even saw that necklace, how weird is that?! we also took the whole family out to the 99 restaurant. you gotta love when the red sox win during their free kids meal with every adult meal promotion the day after winning game! and, for good measure, uncle mitch came along with us. it was great fun!
back to school has been great! the kids are adjusting fine, though mornings are still a bit tough. we feel like we are having a flash forward to the teenage years, when you practically have to pour water on their faces to awaken them!
soccer, hebrew school, cub scouts, guitar lessons, oh my!
check out the team photo of benjamin's traveling soccer team. they beat attleboro 3-0 on saturday. more importantly, ben is learning the fundamentals of the game and how to be a good team player. daddy is having lots of fun asst coaching too...

What it Means to be Ready Early

Elyse just wrote that Joshua was ready for the first day of school more than a half hour early. What does that mean? Well, wearing your backpack around the house all morning covers it. (He loves it, Aiya.)

First day of school...2008

Well, today is the day! It's the most wonderful day of the year... The boys boarded the bus for the JFK School at 7:40 am. The whole family was out there to see them off, even Jonathan, who took today off in honor of it being the most wonderful day of the year (not really the reason!) Am I a bad mother because I am ecstatic that they started school?! I guess it's because I have the two little ones still at home; life is just slightly easier when the bigs are at school. Joshua was so excited to go to first grade; he was all ready by 6:55 to get on the bus, which wasn't coming until 45 minutes later! Check out his smile as he boards the bus...Here's to a great school year!
